Venus is 1-9 against Godley since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Venus Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Godley Wildcats at 5:45 p.m. Venus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1062nd, while Godley is ranked 165th).
Last Friday, Venus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-38 to Hillsboro. Venus has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Godley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Ferris, posting a 75-33 win at home. Godley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Venus has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season. As for Godley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-8.
Venus was dealt a bruising 65-20 defeat at the hands of Godley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Venus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
