The Effingham County Rebels came into Saturday's match having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Evans with a sharp 58-37 win on Saturday. The win was just what Effingham County needed coming off of a 61-28 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Kyjana Jordan, who scored 40 points along with three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Effingham County's points. Another player making a difference was Taniya Proctor, who scored five points along with 21 rebounds and three blocks.
Evans' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kimariya Hinton, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. Hinton is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridget Elkins, who scored five points.
Effingham County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-17. As for Evans, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-21 record this season.
Effingham County will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeside is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. Evans does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
