After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northwest, the Symmes Valley Vikings were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington and snuck past 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Symmes Valley has posted yet this season.
Symmes Valley was led to victory by Jacob Cade and Ethan Smith. Cade scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Smith dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Symmes Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydan Taylor, who scored eight points.
Symmes Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Symmes Valley and Green will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
