The Peebles Indians came tearing into Monday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Eastern by a score of 51-39. 51 seems to be a good number for Peebles as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Payton Johnson was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Johnson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lydia Maddox, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Peebles' win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Eastern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Peebles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Indians are ranked 102nd). As for Eastern, they will head out on the road to take on the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
