Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Denver South Ravens walked away with it. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 27-26 victory over Vista Ridge. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Denver South also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2016.
Denver South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Orlando Guevara led the charge by rushing for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Chevelle Early also helped out as he racked up 182 rushing yards.
When it comes to explaining why Vista Ridge lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Zayden Stevens. Despite the final result, he threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Kobe Dooley was in the mix too, providing Vista Ridge with two touchdowns.
Denver South is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Vista Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Denver South will head out on the road to face off against Palmer Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmer Ridge will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Vista Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
