Soly Burgess and Marina Ortiz stepped up to the plate in a big way. Burgess scored two runs and stole eight bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Ortiz scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Ortiz also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Ailani Ramirez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, San Elizario waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Lobos 9-1.
Karla Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Victoria Fernandez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Yelena Arzola, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
San Elizario kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only managed two hits.
San Elizario's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-17-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fabens, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
