The West Vikings fell victim to the East Bakersfield Blades''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 28-0 defeat at the hands of the Blades. West just can't catch a break and has now endured seven defeats in a row.
Kahli Vaughn threw for 60 yards on five of ten attempts. Jacob Miller was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards. On the ground, Guy Vasquez rushed for 60 yards.
East Bakersfield was led to victory by Tito Santiago and Lorenzo Patino. Santiago rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Patino rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
West's loss was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Shafter and 10-2 Tehachapi (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.6% over those games). As for East Bakersfield, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7.
West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Bakersfield will head out on the road to face off against Morro Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
