The Page Patriots will face off against the Nolensville Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Page proved they can win big on Sunday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Independence 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Ashley Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adriana Callahan, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Nolensville sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Brentwood on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Bruins since April 4, 2023.
Anna Dotson tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April.
Nolensville's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-11. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Page, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Page hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Nolensville struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Page was able to grind out a solid victory over Nolensville when the teams last played back in April, winning 7-3. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
