The Victory Christian Academy Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past St. Paul's Prep, posting a 96-22 victory at home. Victory Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 24 points or more this season.
Victory Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerran Martin, who scored 18 points along with five steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Martin posted two or more blocks. Layton Huddleston was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Loss or not, St. Paul's Prep got some senior leadership from Jeremy Perkins and Landon Applon. Perkins scored nine points along with two steals, while Applon. scored ten points along with six rebounds. Perkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Maumus, who scored no points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
The win was the seventh in a row for Victory Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 17-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for St. Paul's Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Victory Christian Academy will head out on the road to take on Community Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Community Christian is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Victory Christian Academy a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. St. Paul's Prep will take on Heritage Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
