The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 73-47 walloping at the hands of Regis Jesuit. Mountain Vista has struggled against Regis Jesuit recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Mountain Vista still got an impressive performance from Grace Roscoe, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arianna Akey, who scored five points.
Regis Jesuit's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hana Belibi, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Belibi has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Jane Rumpf was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Mountain Vista has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Regis Jesuit, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Mountain Vista on the road again on Thursday and play against Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Highlands Ranch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mountain Vista in Colorado (Highlands Ranch is ranked 26th, while Mountain Vista is ranked 90th). As for Regis Jesuit, they will be playing at home against Grandview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
