Covenant Day has won five straight games at home, while Charlotte Christian has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Lions will host the Knights at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Covenant Day 3, Charlotte Christian 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Covenant Day barely beat Providence Day the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions blew past the Chargers 8-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Lions have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Houseton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Allen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Christian posted their closest win since April 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Charlotte Latin 4-3.
Mogan Banks was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Hinde, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Stella Spang also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Charlotte Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Covenant Day, their win bumped their record up to 12-1-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Covenant Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Covenant Day's way against Charlotte Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Covenant Day made off with an 11-4 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
