After flying high against the Kennedy Memorial Mustangs last Wednesday, the Metuchen Bulldogs came back down to earth. Metuchen took a 61-44 bruising from Carteret on Friday. Metuchen was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carteret apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Saturday.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matt Smith, who scored ten points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Ben Santus, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Metuchen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Carteret, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Metuchen won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Plainfield at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (North Plainfield is ranked 297th, while Metuchen is ranked 281st). As for Carteret, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montgomery at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Montgomery is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
