After soaring to 56 points the game before, the Leyton Warriors were a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. The game between Leyton and Morrill wasn't particularly close, with Leyton falling 42-25. Leyton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Morrill apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Leyton still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Kruse, who scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds. Kruse scored a full 28% of Leyton's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morrill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Pittman Ashwin, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. That makes it two consecutive games in which Ashwin has scored at least 25% of Morrill's points. Ryder Green was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 9 rebounds and 7 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Leyton and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Morrill, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leyton will take on Peetz at TBD on Thursday. As for Morrill, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Hay Springs at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Hay Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Morrill in Nebraska (Hay Springs is ranked second, while Morrill is ranked 27th).
