The Bishop Seabury Academy Seahawks waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Heritage Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 73-58. Given Bishop Seabury Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Heritage Christian Academy is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Seabury Academy was led to victory by Jace Smith and Chase Honarvar. Smith scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Honarvar dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 19 rebounds, and 11 blocks. Honarvar is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jace Hoffman, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lucas Prado, who scored 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Prado hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Pittman, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Heritage Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bishop Seabury Academy pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.
Bishop Seabury Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cair Paravel at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Bishop Seabury Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Cair Paravel likes a good challenge. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Bishop Ward at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Heritage Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
