The Vardaman Rams lost against the Bruce Trojans two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Vardaman took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bruce.
Bruce's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was A'toria Knox, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. Knox continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Holmes, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Vardaman's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Bruce, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-8.
Vardaman won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Pontotoc at 9:00 a.m. on December 22nd. North Pontotoc presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vardaman in Mississippi (North Pontotoc is ranked 51st, while Vardaman is ranked 237th). Bruce will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Okolona at 11:00 a.m. on January 6, 2024.
