Baseball Recap: Saranac Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Saranac had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt AuSable Valley on Friday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Patriots. That looming 16-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Austin Lareau made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Adrian Barnes was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Zack Lucia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Saranac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
