Argenta-Oreana is a perfect 6-0 against St. Thomas More since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bombers will venture away from home to square off against the Sabers at 4:30 p.m. Argenta-Oreana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Argenta-Oreana came out on top against Cerro Gordo/Bement on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Bombers blew past the Broncos 12-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bombers considering their one-run performance the game before.
Elyssa Armstrong was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Argenta-Oreana got a massive performance out of Pyper Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Jones has posted since back in May of 2024. Gracie Manning was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Argenta-Oreana hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cerro Gordo/Bement struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas More fell victim to Rantoul and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Eagles. The loss leaves the Sabers still looking for their first win of the season.
Argenta-Oreana's record now sits at 7-10. As for St. Thomas More, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
St. Thomas More's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Argenta-Oreana hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for St. Thomas More, though, as they've only averaged .159. Will they be able to contain Argenta-Oreana's hitters?
Everything went Argenta-Oreana's way against St. Thomas More in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Argenta-Oreana made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Bombers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sabers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
