The Trenton Tigers will challenge the Williston Mighty Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trenton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Trenton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Bronson get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 18 games by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Addison Allaire's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Addilynn Welbers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emaleigh Philmon, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Trenton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bronson only posted an OBP of .120.
Fort Meade typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Williston proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Miners 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mighty Red Devils have posted since March 30th.
Emily Asencion spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayla Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Baylee Cribbs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Trenton's record is now 22-3. As for Williston, their record now sits at 13-10.
Williston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trenton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. It's a different story for Williston, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Trenton's hitters?
Trenton got the 'W' when the teams last played last Thursday against Williston by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mighty Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
