The Beaumont School Blue Streaks waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They put the hurt on Villa Angela-St. Joseph with a sharp 59-34 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-9.
Beaumont School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mackenizie Callender out in front who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maria Goske, who scored 11 points along with six assists and three steals.
Despite the loss, Villa Angela-St. Joseph saw an underclassman step up: Elizabeth Dunmire dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Jasmyne Nelson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Beaumont School's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
Beaumont School will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they will be playing at home against the Badgers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
