The Edison Eagles lost against the Hayfield Hawks last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Edison was beaten by the Hawks 74-46.
Alex Mcfarlane went supernova for Hayfield, scoring 18 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcfarlane has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Andy Ramirez, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Edison's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Hayfield, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edison is on the road again on Monday and plays the Atoms at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Annandale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Eagles are ranked 98th). As for Hayfield, they will head out on the road to take on the Majors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Mount Vernon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
