Winthrop College Prep Academy put their dominant defense on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the North Tampa Christian Academy Titans get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Titans are ranked 376th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Winthrop College Prep Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Maya Degreenia and her top target Gabriella Rodriguez. Degreenia threw for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Rodriguez picked up 76 receiving yards and two TDs. Those 176 passing yards gave Degreenia a new career-high.

Winthrop College Prep Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.0 points on average over those games. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winthrop College Prep Academy will head out to square off against Riverview Academy of Math and Science at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Wesley Chapel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
