Central Falls is 0-3 against Tiverton since May of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Central Falls has given up an average of 15.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Central Falls lost 17-2 to Rogers on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Meanwhile, Tiverton put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Times Squared Academy get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Liliana Luis made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Tiverton let Brooke Sowa and Sadie Pickering run wild. Sowa went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Pickering went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Sowa a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlie Martin, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Tiverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .536 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
This is the second loss in a row for Central Falls and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Tiverton, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Central Falls has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .558. However, it's not like Tiverton struggles in that department as they've averaged .545. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Falls suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Tiverton when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
