Victory Christian Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lakeland Christian 33-31. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Storm.

A big part of Victory Christian Academy's win came down to the chemistry between Cru Slocum and his top target Donmari Earby. Slocum threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns while Earby picked up 141 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Slocum racked up 113.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September. Tucker Fox also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
One reason for the win was Victory Christian Academy's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The team can thank one different players for their defensive prowess: Preston Garcia, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Clearwater Central Catholic got themselves on the board against Indian Rocks Christian on Friday, but Indian Rocks Christian never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 45-0 victory over the Eagles. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Victory Christian Academy better focus on containing Corey Simms and Khayse Barrett as the pair were huge in Clearwater Central Catholic's win. Clearwater Central Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.
Clearwater Central Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jsai Smith, Kellan Jackson, and Tyrique Harris picked up one apiece. Jackson also made five total tackles, which is notable because Clearwater Central Catholic is undefeated when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.
The victory got Victory Christian Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their record now sits at 9-2.
