Mt. Diablo is 0-6 against Berean Christian since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Diablo has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mt. Diablo and Miramonte meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Red Devils lost 17-5 to the Matadors.
Faith Sotelo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Dazzelynn Alon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, while Berean Christian put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Concord. The Eagles blew past the Bears 10-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Audrey Longtin's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Olivia Kundysek was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of LeAna Cimarra, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.
Berean Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Berean Christian pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Mt. Diablo, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Mt. Diablo might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Berean Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
