Jaiya Vera posted a new career-high in RBI on Monday. He scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Vera's strong effort led Valley Stream Central over Elmont Memorial and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are a perfect 5-0 against the Spartans going back to May of 2021, a lead they'll look to extend.
