The Patapsco Patriots struggled with assists on Thursday (Patterson Mill had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Patapsco was beaten by Patterson Mill 62-32. While losing is never fun, Patapsco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Patterson Mill is ranked 79th).
Despite the loss, Patapsco still got an impressive performance from Ania Evans, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Evans scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Burk, who scored nine points.
It was another big night for Kiley Wilhelm, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks for Patterson Mill. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for her. Rylie Madsen was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Patapsco's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Patterson Mill, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patapsco and Eastern Tech will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Eastern Tech is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Patterson Mill, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Leonardtown at 6:45 p.m.
