Basketball Recap: Caston Falls Despite Big Games from Lane Hook and Logan Mollenkopf

Caston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 76-56 to the Rochester Zebras. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Zebras are ranked 167th).

Caston's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Logan Mollenkopf, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds, and Lane Hook, who went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points. Mollenkopf's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jan Aguilar-Mendez also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

It was another big night for Drew Bowers, who almost dropped a double-double on 48 points and nine steals for Rochester. Those 48 points gave Bowers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tanner Reinartz, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points and four steals.

Caston's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Rochester, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Caston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-39 win against Pioneer on the 31st. Rochester has also already played their next game, a 60-44 victory against Northfield on the 31st.
