The Gulliver Prep Raiders came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 72-55 win over Key West. Given Gulliver Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Key West is ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacob Marquez was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five assists and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Mansfield, who scored ten points along with six assists and four steals.
Gulliver Prep is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Key West, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Gulliver Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 85-70 win vs. St. Brendan on the 10th. Key West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
