Johnson-Brock is on a 15-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Pawnee City is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Johnson-Brock Eagles will square off against the Pawnee City Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Johnson-Brock knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Pawnee City likes a good challenge.
Johnson-Brock is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Lourdes Central Catholic 80-28 on Tuesday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 25 points or more this season.

Johnson-Brock relied on the efforts of Brody Koehler, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds, and Austin Meyer, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. With that strong performance, Koehler is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Behrends, who made all 5 shots he took to post 12 points.
Johnson-Brock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pawnee City earned a 60-47 victory over Weeping Water on Tuesday. Given Pawnee City's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Weeping Water is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pawnee City's win came from a few key players Johnson-Brock will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jett Farwell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 boards. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Menninga, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points.
Johnson-Brock's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Pawnee City, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Johnson-Brock has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Pawnee City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Johnson-Brock against Pawnee City in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-31 win. Does Johnson-Brock have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pawnee City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
