Baseball Recap: Clairemont Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Clairemont waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the San Diego Cavers. Considering the Chieftains have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Diego Matsumoto made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Matsumoto was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Jackson Cleary looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Colton Daudet was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Luis Murrieta was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Clairemont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Clairemont pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for San Diego, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clairemont beat San Diego by a score of 14-8 on Tuesday.
