The Maclay Marauders had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Wakulla by a score of 50-42 on Tuesday. For Maclay, this counts as revenge for the 37-29 loss Wakulla walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Leading Maclay to victory were Journey Kramer and Lauren Guyer. Kramer scored 16 points, while Guyer scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Molly McDonald, who scored 5 points.
Despite the defeat, Wakulla saw an underclassman step up: Amariyah Donaldson dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kyendra Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 8 steals and 7 rebounds.
Maclay's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Wakulla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Maclay will head out on the road to face off against Wewahitchka at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wakulla, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Jefferson County at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th.
