The Two Rivers Purple Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Brillion Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Two Rivers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Brillion's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Two Rivers is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Valders just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.
Two Rivers got a good showing from Anna Klein, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Klein didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April.
On the hitting side, Two Rivers saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Leist, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Sydney Arnold also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Brillion never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Manitowoc Lutheran 13-0. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Amaya Brooks was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Kara Hedrich was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Brillion and bumps their season record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Two Rivers, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
Two Rivers came up short against Brillion in their previous matchup back in April, falling 6-1. Can the Purple Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
