The Ashley Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They fell 44-33 to Carson City-Crystal. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Ashley of the 55-37 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Cole Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Carson City-Crystal, scoring 14 points along with four steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Reeder, who scored six points.
Ashley dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.5 points per game. As for Carson City-Crystal, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-11.
Ashley will head out on the road to square off against St. Charles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashley is facing St. Charles at the right time seeing as St. Charles is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Carson City-Crystal, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sacred Heart Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacred Heart Academy will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Carson City-Crystal surely won't give up without a fight.
