Rowe scaled the state rankings by moving to 780 from 836 this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region IV District 31. The Warriors were able to move up by beating Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial 28-25.
McAllen added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating San Benito, 35-28. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Bulldogs.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's Jesus Navarro and Mike Montemayor have proven to be a lethal combination. Navarro has thrown for 655 yards this season, while Montemayor has 18 catches for 167 yards. McAllen Memorial's Trevor Speights leads the league in rushing yards with 1,177.
The top two teams in 5A Region IV District 31 will face off this week when first place McAllen takes on second place Weslaco.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Bears and the Greyhounds face off next week.
