Elysian Fields was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 15-11 to the Union Grove Lions. Even though they lost, the Yellowjackets' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Layla Adkins put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off eight hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Elysian Fields got a massive performance out of Madi Owens, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. As for Union Grove, they will take on Carlisle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Grove is facing Carlisle at the right time seeing as Carlisle is stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
