This season hasn't been kind to the Isle of Wight Academy Chargers, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They fell 59-47 to Gateway Christian on Monday. Isle of Wight Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Gateway Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Gateway Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Holestin, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Matthew Johnson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Isle of Wight Academy bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Gateway Christian, their victory ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-4.
Isle of Wight Academy will head out on the road to face off against Greenbrier Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gateway Christian, they will be playing at home against Atlantic Shores Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
