The Aquinas Blugolds will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cotter Ramblers at 7:15 p.m. Aquinas will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
In what's become a running theme this season, Aquinas gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Holmen 81-53 on the road. Given Aquinas' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Vikings are ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aquinas found their leader in underclassman Samantha Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 18 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madeline Murphy, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of 12 wins, Cotter's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 71-56 bruising from Goodhue. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Aquinas pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points per game. As for Cotter, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3.
Aquinas beat the Ramblers 57-48 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Aquinas have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ramblers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
