The Arcadia Titans will challenge the Centennial Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Arcadia hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Arcadia is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since May 7, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against Cactus Shadows, falling 12-2.
Emma Lucas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Logan Jenkins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centennial). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Youngker a 22-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Coyotes have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Riley Moncrieff made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Centennial got a massive performance out of Jordynn McClain, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs McClain has posted since back in April of 2024. Serenity Anchondo was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Youngker only posted an OBP of .111.
Centennial now has a winning record of 7-6-1. As for Arcadia, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arcadia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arcadia suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Centennial in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Will Arcadia have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
