Atrisco Heritage Academy has gone a perfect 10-0 against Rio Grande recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Ravens at 3:30 p.m. Atrisco Heritage Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Atrisco Heritage Academy barely beat West Mesa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jaguars never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their one-run performance the game before.
Melanie MacIas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Juliana Hernandez and Aalyiah Chavez did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Chavez went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Savannah Lujan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Atrisco Heritage Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Rio Grande was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Hope Christian, falling 21-6. Ravens fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Huskies since on Monday.
Atrisco Heritage Academy pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Rio Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.
Atrisco Heritage Academy took their win against Rio Grande in their previous matchup on April 11th by a conclusive 19-4 score. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ravens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
