If the Crescent City Raiders were riding high off their 50-29 takedown of the Warner Christian Academy Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Crescent City was dealt a 74-31 defeat at the hands of St. Joseph Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Crescent City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while St. Joseph Academy is ranked 179th).
St. Joseph Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kelly Cramer led the charge by scoring 26 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Cramer has scored at least a third of St. Joseph Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taninah Manning, who scored 16 points along with nine steals.
Crescent City's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for St. Joseph Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crescent City won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Father Lopez at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Father Lopez will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
