The Northwood Timberwolves will head out on the road to square off against the Sage Hill Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwood is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Even though Portola scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Northwood still came out on top. Northwood took their game against Portola 63-55. Given Northwood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Portola is ranked 661st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Zaid Yunis, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Ryan Abaye was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Sage Hill pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 79-59 loss to Beckman might stick with them for a while. Sage Hill was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-29.
Northwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Sage Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
Northwood couldn't quite finish off Sage Hill in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 68-65. Can Northwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
