Basketball Recap: North Brunswick Comes Up Short

North Brunswick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 64-51 to the Ashley Screaming Eagle. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Screaming Eagle this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-61 last Wednesday.

Despite the loss, North Brunswick still got an impressive performance from Kane Jenrette, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jenrette's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was John Fanning, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, North Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Ashley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quinn Bentley, who went 5-for-11 en route to 22 points. With that strong performance, Bentley is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Jarrell, who had 17 points.

North Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Ashley, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Brunswick will take on Laney at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Laney is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Ashley, they will face off against West Brunswick at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Ashley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully West Brunswick likes a good challenge.
