Berkeley Springs has gone a perfect 10-0 against Martinsburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Indians will host the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Berkeley Springs will be strutting in after a win while Martinsburg will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Berkeley Springs turned things around against East Hardy on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cougars 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 16, 2024.
Alaira Harrington made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Harrington was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Scotlyn Forney was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Payton Mizell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.
Berkeley Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Martinsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against Jefferson, falling 16-3.
Martinsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daysha Cook, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Cook is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Martinsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Berkeley Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Everything went Berkeley Springs' way against Martinsburg in their previous matchup back in March, as Berkeley Springs made off with a 14-5 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
