Cobre is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Dexter is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cobre Indians will take on the Dexter Demons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two weeks ago, while Cobre put up plenty of points, the same can't be said for Hatch Valley. Cobre blew past Hatch Valley 40-0 at home. Cobre pushed the score to 34-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Hatch Valley had no chance of recovering from.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dexter had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hatch Valley 38-6 at home.
It was another big night for Julian Manzanares, who rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. Manzanares was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaesn George, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Dexter's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Enrique wyatt Sena and his three sacks.
Their wins bumped Cobre to 7-2 and Dexter to 9-2.
Cobre was able to grind out a solid victory over Dexter in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 35-22. Does Cobre have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dexter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
