Baseball Game Preview: Skyview Hawks vs. Emmett Huskies

Skyview has gone a perfect 10-0 against Emmett recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Hawks will welcome the Huskies at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Skyview has three straight victories, Emmett has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Skyview's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Caldwell with a sharp 9-0 win. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Joe Bernal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Nixon Downs was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Keegan Sullivan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Emmett's offense. They came up short against Columbia on Friday, falling 9-0.

Emmett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Skyview pushed their record up to 10-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Emmett, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Skyview took their victory against Emmett in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
