The Greenville Tech Charter Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 37-28 to Chesnee. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Greenville Tech Charter of the 44-40 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Greenville Tech Charter's loss came despite strong showings from Sophie Chasteen and Josey Stefanik. Chasteen scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Stefanik scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Stefanik grabbed two or more steals.
It was another big night for Pearl Holloway, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds for Chesnee. Holloway has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Liana Kreydich was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Greenville Tech Charter dropped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Chesnee, their win bumped their record up to 3-18.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenville Tech Charter will take on Greer Middle College at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Greer Middle College is ranked 238th, while Greenville Tech Charter is ranked 233rd). As for Chesnee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blacksburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Blacksburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
