Basketball Recap: Bountiful Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After a string of five wins, Bountiful's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a hard 85-67 fall against the Timpview Thunderbirds. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the RedHawks of the 54-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Defeat or not, Bountiful got some senior leadership from Bryson Heath and Charlie Smith. Heath went 8 of 9 on his way to 21 points, while Smith posted 19 points. The game was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Davey Howe, who had eight points.

Timpview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Openshaw, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. Those 24 points gave Openshaw a new career-high. Dean Rueckert was another key player, going 7 for 10 on his way to 20 points.

Bountiful's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3. As for Timpview, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Bountiful didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-55 win against Viewmont on the 3rd. As for Timpview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-51 victory against Pleasant Grove on the 3rd.
