It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Taft Raiders can now relate to. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of United on Friday. Taft's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
United's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Atzel Chavez Jr., who threw for 318 yards and five touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Alek Leven, who picked up 162 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for United, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now. United is on the road again on Friday and play against San Benito at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (San Benito is ranked 280th, while United is ranked 290th).
