Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anson). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Hawley Bearcats on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since May 18, 2024.
Kayme Elrod was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Jiselle Ramos was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Miley Adkins, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Anson's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Hawley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
