Softball Recap: Onalaska Snags Ninth Victory in Last 12 Games

Onalaska never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Prairie du Chien Blackhawks. Considering the Hilltoppers have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Sydney Kraus 2028's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zoe Koonce O'Kane 2026 was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayenne Zinnecker 2028, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Onalaska was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prairie du Chien only posted a batting average of .200.

Onalaska has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Prairie du Chien, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-6.

Looking ahead, Onalaska is taking a road trip to square off against La Crosse Logan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Prairie du Chien, they will challenge Richland Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
